Shipping & Delivery

Last updated:

Every Gift Nook order is a personalized gift with a date attached to it: a birthday, an anniversary, a holiday or a goodbye. This page explains how long it takes for your gift to be prepared, how it travels to the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, what shipping costs (nothing), and what to do if a parcel is slow or arrives in poor shape. If anything here is unclear, email support@giftnook.shop and a person will reply within 24 hours on business days.

Delivery in short

  • Preparation: 1-3 business days to print, check and pack your personalized order.
  • Transit: 7-14 business days to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Total estimate: about 8-17 business days from order to doorstep.
  • Cost: free shipping on every order, with no minimum spend and no code needed.
  • Origin: all orders ship from the USA.
  • Help: email us with your order number and we reply within 24 hours on business days.

1. How the delivery clock works

Your delivery estimate has two parts. The first is preparation: once your order is placed, we print the names, dates and wording you typed in the order notes box, check the item and pack it. That takes 1-3 business days. The second part is transit: the time the parcel spends with the carrier on its way to you, which is 7-14 business days for every country we ship to. Add the two together and most gifts arrive within 8-17 business days of the order.

Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding US public holidays. An order placed on a Saturday evening starts its preparation on Monday morning, so it helps to count from the next business day when you are planning around a date. Weekends and public holidays in the destination country can also pause carrier movement for a day or two; that time sits inside the transit range above.

A worked example

Say you order a name tumbler for your friend Maya on a Tuesday, and her birthday is three weeks from that day. Preparation finishes by Friday at the latest. Transit of 7-14 business days puts the parcel at her door between the following Tuesday-week and the Thursday of the week after that, which is inside your three-week window. If the birthday were only ten days away, we would honestly suggest a different plan, such as sending a note that the gift is on its way, rather than promising something the calendar cannot deliver.

2. Shipping costs and estimated times by country

We ship to four countries, all with the same free standard method. Checkout shows the free shipping option automatically once you enter an address in one of these countries. There is no order minimum, no coupon to remember and no surcharge for heavier items such as tumblers or multi-item orders.

Transit times are carrier estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates. Most parcels land inside the range; a few arrive sooner and a few run late, especially in the busiest weeks before Christmas, Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day. If you are shopping for a fixed date, order as early as you comfortably can.

3. Where we deliver and where we do not

Gift Nook currently delivers to addresses in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. All orders ship from the USA. If you enter an address in any other country, checkout will not offer a shipping method and the order cannot be placed. That is deliberate: we would rather tell you up front than accept an order we cannot get to you.

You can ship to a home, an apartment, a workplace or a friend’s address. Please make sure the recipient’s name is on the address so the carrier and any building reception know who the parcel is for. If you are unsure whether a particular address type, such as a remote rural route or a military address, can be served, email us before you order and we will check with you.

4. Sending a gift straight to the recipient

Many of our gifts never pass through the buyer’s hands. You can enter your own billing details and the recipient’s address as the shipping address at checkout. A few tips make this smoother:

  • Use the recipient’s full name exactly as it appears on their mailbox or buzzer.
  • Add a unit, apartment or suite number if there is one; missing unit numbers are the most common cause of delays.
  • If you want a short gift message to travel with the parcel, write it in the order notes box after the personalization details and label it clearly as “Gift message”.
  • If the gift is a surprise, check that the recipient will be home or that the parcel can be left safely, especially for suncatchers and ornaments that are best kept out of the rain.

Example: your sister lives in Auckland and her wedding anniversary is in late November. You order a names-and-date keepsake in the first week of November, type “Ana & Tom, 11.24.2018” in the order notes, and put her address as the shipping address. The parcel is prepared in 1-3 business days and then has 7-14 business days in transit, so it is planned to arrive before the date.

5. Shipping confirmation and tracking

When your order is placed, you receive an order confirmation email. When it leaves us, we send a shipping confirmation by email, with tracking information when the carrier provides it. You can also look up your order at any time on our Order Tracking page using your order number and the email address you used at checkout.

New tracking numbers sometimes show “label created” or no movement for a day or two after the parcel leaves us. That is normal; the first scan appears once the carrier processes the parcel. International parcels can also go quiet while they move between countries and are handed to the local delivery service, and then update again. If you did not receive a shipping email, check your spam or promotions folder before writing to us.

6. Checking your address before you order

Because every gift is made for you after you order, the most useful thing you can do is check the shipping address carefully on the checkout page: name, street, unit number, city, state or province, and ZIP or postal code. A transposed digit in a postal code can send a parcel on a long detour.

Spotted a mistake? Email us within 24 hours of placing your order and we will correct the address for free. The same 24-hour window applies to changes to names, dates and wording in your order notes. Read Cancel or Change an Order for the details. After a parcel has been handed to the carrier, we can ask about a redirect, but the carrier decides whether that is possible.

7. Orders with several gifts

Buying for the whole family at once is common here, for example matching holiday tees for five people plus an ornament for grandma. Items in one order normally travel together. Occasionally items are packed separately so that nothing is held back waiting for another item; if that happens you never pay extra, and you receive the shipping details for each parcel.

If the gifts in one order are meant for different addresses, please place a separate order for each address. Each order then has its own shipping address, its own order notes and its own tracking, which keeps personalized details from getting mixed up.

8. If a parcel is late or seems lost

Parcels sometimes run past the 8-17 business day estimate, particularly in peak season or when crossing borders. If your tracking has stopped moving, or the estimated window has passed and your gift has not arrived, email support@giftnook.shop with your order number. We will look at the tracking with you, contact the carrier where that helps, and work out the next step together.

If tracking says “delivered” but you cannot find the parcel, please check around your property, with neighbors, with building reception and with your local post office, since parcels are sometimes left in a safe place or scanned a little early. Then contact us and we will help. We are setting out exact timelines for lost-parcel claims and carrier investigations; until they are published on this page, contact us and we will help you case by case.

9. If your gift arrives damaged

Suncatchers, ornaments and keepsakes are packed to travel, but parcels do get dropped. If something arrives cracked, scratched or broken, please keep the packaging and take a few photos: the outer box, the shipping label and the damaged item. Email them to us with your order number. We will arrange a replacement or a refund, whichever suits you, and send you a free return label if we need the item back.

Remember that you can also return any item for any reason within 60 days of delivery, with a free return label, under our Returns & Exchanges Policy. Refunds are issued within 7 days of the return reaching us; the Refund Policy explains how.

10. Customs, duties and taxes

Orders to Canada, Australia and New Zealand cross an international border on the way. Import duties, taxes or handling fees, if any apply, depend on the destination country’s rules and the value of the parcel, and they are set by that country, not by Gift Nook. If you would like to talk this through before ordering a large gift for someone abroad, email us and we will help. Gift Nook does not collect sales tax at checkout, so the total you see before you pay is the item price with free shipping.

11. Planning around big dates

A few dates fill up the carriers every year. For Christmas gifts to the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, ordering in early November gives the most breathing room. For Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, ordering about four weeks ahead is a comfortable margin. For weddings and anniversaries you usually know the date months in advance, so the easiest approach is to order as soon as you have the names and date confirmed. If the date has crept up on you, write to us before ordering and we will give you an honest view of whether the timing works.
